• Early Childhood/Preschool Classes

The Duquesne City School District offers Early Childhood and Preschool Classes that are operated and staffed by the Allegheny Intermediate Unit. The Head Start program promotes the school readiness of infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children from families with low incomes. The program engages parents or other key family members in positive relationships, with a focus on family well-being for successful learning outcomes and support for children.

The Pre-K Counts program, which is grant funded by PDE, is a quality pre-kindergarten program that provides a strong start for children and for those who may also have language (English not as the first language), a disability or developmental delay, or other issues that consider children at risk for failing in school.
