Throughout the country, more schools are embracing Esports. Esports can be a means to spark interest in STEAM topics, such as coding and mathematics, and a way to keep kids engaged. At Duquesne, Esports is offered as an elective for its seventh- and eighth-grade students, who have recently returned to the district after a 10-year hiatus. Esports is also offered as an after-school club. The new offering is made possible thanks to the support and generosity of Robert Morris University, Penn State Readiness Institute and The Heinz Endowments.
