Dear Parents and Guardians:

The Duquesne City School District is committed to ensuring that all students have access to nutrition meals in a manner that accommodates their needs. We are pleased to inform you that the Pennsylvania Department of Education – Bureau of Food and Nutrition, has approved a waiver that allows us to provide meal accommodations for students observing Ramadan and fasting during the period February 18, 2026 through March 19, 2026.

The waiver allows us to:

1. Provide non-congregate meals (meals that do not need to be consumed on-side) for students actively fasting during Ramadan.
2. Serve lunches outside of the usual 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM timeframe to better meet students’ needs.

To ensure we are able to provide these accommodates efficiently, we are asking families of students who will be fasting during Ramadan to complete this online form. The form will help us accurately plan and document meals provided under this waiver.

Please complete the form by February 19, 2026. 

Those students participating in this program will be provided with meals at the end of the school day and will not be eligible to receive food items during the school day. The information provided will only be used for the purpose of facilitating meal services during this time and will remain confidential. Proper documentation is required to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
