With PSSA's on the horizon, check out this letter for some important details and tips:
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Duquesne K-8 School will be administering the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) in accordance with the schedule outlined below. These assessments are an essential part of measuring student achievement and growth in alignment with state academic standards.
PSSA Testing Schedule:
Subject Dates
ELA April 22-April 25, 2025
Math April 28-April 29, 2025
Science April 30-May 1, 2025
All testing sessions will take place in the morning, beginning promptly at 9:00 a.m. It is imperative that students arrive on time each day of testing. If a student arrives after testing has begun, they will be required to report to the LGI room to minimize disruptions.
Important Testing Guidelines:
• Per state regulations, students are prohibited from having cell phones, smartwatches, and other electronic devices during the assessments. These devices will be collected upon arrival and returned at the end of the school day.
• Please make every effort to ensure your child is present and punctual on testing days.
• If a student is absent on a testing day, they will be required to take a make-up test upon their return.
How You Can Support Your Child:
To help your child perform their best on the PSSA, we encourage the following:
• Ensure regular attendance: Being present and on time for each testing day is crucial.
• Encourage a healthy sleep routine: Students should get at least 8 hours of sleep each night.
• Breakfast will be provided at school.
• Motivate your child to do their best: Encourage them to take the assessment seriously and remain confident in their abilities.
The students and staff at Duquesne K-8 School have been diligently preparing for these assessments, and we are confident in their ability to succeed. The PSSA results provide valuable insight into student progress and help guide instructional decisions that support academic growth.
We appreciate your cooperation and support in making this a successful assessment period. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.
Sincerely,
Erica Slobodnik
Principal, Duquesne K-8 School
