Notice of School Board Vacancies

December 3, 2025

 

The Duquesne City School District is seeking applications to fill two vacancies on the Board of School Directors. The Court-Appointed Receiver will appoint two individuals to fill the vacancies for the period of 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 school years. 

In accordance with the School Laws of Pennsylvania, the Court-Appointed Receiver, acting as the Board of School Directors, intends to fill the vacancies at a Special Receiver Business Meeting to be held on Thursday, January 15, 2025 where the successful appointees will be given the Oath of Office.    

To be eligible for appointment, a resident, in accordance with section 322 of the Public School Code of 1949 as amended, must be: “any citizen of this Commonwealth, having a good moral character, being at least eighteen (18) years of age, and having been a resident of the District for at least one (1) year, prior to the date of his/her election or appointment.” Further limitations exist for those holding other government offices or positions in the School District.
