Staff member of the month: Desiree Bluett & Chuck Robinson

On the surface, Chuck Robinson and Desiree Bluett work largely different jobs for the Duquesne City School District.

Robinson is in his 2nd year in the district as an IT specialist & truancy officer, while Bluett is in her 26th year as a paraprofessional. Nevertheless, Robinson and Bluett share a common thread in the way they approach their jobs: a willingness to always help out wherever they can.

Robinson and Bluett were voted by their peers as November’s staff members of the month.

“Her willingness to help out anyone, anywhere, everyone, and  everywhere does not go unnoticed,” one employee said of Bluett.

“The way she humbly steps up to the plate is astounding and I think we could all learn a little bit from Ms. Des. She is a portrait of what it means to be a Duke,” said another employee of Bluett.

“He continuously and quickly helps resolve problems and finds solutions to a wide range of issues with a smile,” said a peer of Robinson’s.

For Bluett, a proud Duquesne City alumni, helping out the district’s students and staff in whatever way she can gives her joy.

“I enjoy giving back to my district and my community,” said Bluett.

Bluett, who has transitioned to a middle school paraprofessional this year, said her favorite part of her job is working closely with students, and seeing the aha moments.

“That’s what I like. I like working with small groups and one on one with the students and helping them accomplish their goals,” said Bluett.

Robinson, who transitioned from a school resource officer to his current role this year, prides himself on being a jack of all trades, and finding creative solutions to problems.

“Whatever needs to be done gets done, and there’s no excuses,” said Robinson.
