On February 24, the Duquesne City School District held its annual Black History Month celebration, a culturally-rich event filled with dancing, music, and student performances. On the night, students skillfully performed a play titled, 'Black History Heroes: Then & Now', highlighting significant black historical figures of the past and present. Additionally, the Zeta Phi Beta and Sigma Gamma Rho sororities performed some dances and chants, a student performed a reading of a poem, and the Boys and Club Dance Team brought the energy with some fun performances.

Further, the PGH SK8 Collaborative, a nonprofit dedicated to developing accessible rollerskating, educated the audience about the ties between rollerskating and the black community before performing some skating and dancing.  A video made by the school's Student Tech Team, as well as a video highlighting K-2 students' perspectives on black history were also displayed. Special thanks to all of the students, staff, and volunteers who made this event a rousing, fun-filled success!
