Dr. Jamie Schmidt is the Chief Academic Officer / Federal Programs Coordinator and has spent extensive time in education as a teacher, reading specialist and instructional coach. Dr. Schmidt came to the district in 2008 as a reading specialist and has since served in several capacities, most recently as an instructional coach for ELA instruction. 

 

Dr. Schmidt is a graduate of Duquesne University and holds a bachelors degree in elementary education and a masters degree in Reading and Language Arts. She received certification as a Reading Recovery teacher from Shippensburg University and holds a doctorate of education degree from the University of Pittsburgh in their Language, Literacy, and Culture program. 

 

As the Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Dr. Schmidt builds instructional capacity, incorporates innovation into current systems, and strives to create instructional programming for the benefit of the students at Duquesne.
