Dr. Jamie Schmidt is the Director of Curriculum and Instruction. and has been in the education field for 17 years as a teacher, reading specialist, and instructional coach. Schmidt came to the district in 2008 as a reading specialist and has since served in several capacities, however, most recently as an instructional coach for ELA instruction. 

 

Dr. Schmidt is a graduate of Duquesne University and holds a bachelors degree in elementary education and a masters degree in Reading and Language Arts. She received certification as a Reading Recovery teacher from Shippensburg University and holds a doctorate of education degree from the University of Pittsburgh in their Language, Literacy, and Culture program. 

 

As the Director of Curriculum and Instruction., Dr. Schmidt builds instructional capacity, incorporates innovation into current systems, and strives to create instructional programming to the benefit of the students at Duquesne. She lives in Belle Vernon with her husband, Shawn, and two sons, Ryder and Jax.
