Student Assistance Program (DSAP)

Student Services (also known as Pupil Services) is defined in Chapter 12 as "Services designed by a school entity to support the instructional program and to help students attain their educational and career goals." It is also defined as "those programs and services that support the overall instructional mission of a school district by ensuring that students attain the knowledge and competencies necessary to derive the maximum benefit from the instructional program."

Student Services Department (SSD) was created to assist the school district in accomplishing its mission to prepare ALL students to be successful, ethical, caring members of a global community. The SSD will partner with parents and teachers to provide experiences and opportunities that foster academic success.

This partnership will increase student resiliency defined as the capacity to overcome risk factors to move toward positive development and the capacity to spring back and successfully adapt in the face of adversity.

STRAIGHT TALK FOR PARENTS - Duquesne City SD

Date: 5/9/2013
Time: 6:00 PM
Location: 300 Kennedy Ave., Duquesne, Pa

The average age of a child’s first alcoholic drink is now 8 and a teenager’s first experiment with marijuana is occurring at age 13. Drug Free Pennsylvania, one of the Commonwealth’s premier non-profit organizations in educating adults about substance abuse, will be holding a free seminar for parents in partnership with Duquesne City School District.  Not only will participants learn about the kinds of substances now making their way into schools, communities and homes, but those in attendance will discuss strategies to help young people avoid these substances. So whether parents have preschoolers or new college students, there will be information for all.

No one has yet fully realized the wealth of sympathy, kindness, and generosity hidden in the soul of a child. The effort of every true education should be to unlock that treasure.
