Receiver Advisory Council

Dear Friends: Please let me take a moment of your time to let you know about an opportunity that might be of interest to you. If you would like to learn about education, administration and finance at the Duquesne City School District, and to contribute your ideas and advice on these matters, read further!

As the Receiver for the School District, I have to make a lot of decisions about education, administration and finance. The opinions and insights of parents, employees and tax payers is an important part of the decision making process. In order to provide a forum for discussions about these decisions, the Receiver Advisory Council is being formed.

Meeting of the Council will normally be held on the second Tuesday of the month at 5:30 p.m. The length of meetings will vary somewhat, but adjournment would be not later than 7:00. The Council will meet in the Board Room at the Duquesne Education Center. The first meeting is planned for early in the school year.

Members on the Council will come from a variety of backgrounds, to include parents and guardians, teachers and support staff members, taxpayers and business people, school directors and administrators, and I hope a student or two. A full council will have 20 members who are interested about public education in Duquesne.

If you want to join the Council, please complete the application that is linked at the bottom of this page. You might like to read more about the Receiver Advisory Council in Duquesne City School District Policy R03, which is also linked at the bottom of this page.

If you have questions, feel free to drop me an e-mail or give me a call.

Sincerely,

Paul B. Long, Ed.D. Receiver
